There was a time that, in addition to my day job, I ran a business with my partner producing fancy embroidered motifs and appliques. Our first embroidery machine was a Brother PE150. As you know, this machine is a home embroidery machine and so not intended for serious industrial use. However, with no real capital to start the business we had to make do and this meant learning how to keep the machine running without having to pay someone else to repair it when, inevitably, it broke down.

At the time we ran two PE150s and two PE180s. Mechanically the machines are identical. The 180s are the 'Disney' specials although we didn't use any of the pre-programmed Disney designs.

Due to the amount of use the machines got there were fairly frequent mechanical problems despite a rigorous cleaning and maintenance regime. When something went wrong, I fixed it myself.

This site is basically me sharing what I learnt.
